Aerospace Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Aerospace Engineer who can take a senior role in our unmanned helicopter development program. This full-time position is based at ECT’s R&D premises in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. The project requires an Engineer who has a depth of knowledge yet is highly proactive and a self-starter.

As a minimum, successful candidates will have:

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5 years’ experience in aircraft design.

  • Experienced in helicopter design and/or testing.

  • Knowledge of avionics

  • Highly proactive and able to work autonomously.

  • Highly capable in technical hands-on work.

  • Good skills in CAD 3D modelling.

Preferable skills include:

  • Experience with UAV/RPAS/drones

  • Experience with integration of avionics on helicopters.

  • Experience with ultralight or small helicopters.

  • Experience with flight testing.

Mechatronics Engineer + Pilot

We are looking for a Mechatronics Engineer who can assist with programming and building multirotor UAVs and associated specialist payload systems. The Engineer will be required to operate as a drone pilot for test flights, trials and also as a backup pilot for some international projects. 

This role can be flexible, either contract, part-time or full-time dependent on the person.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in Mechatronics, or similar engineering field.

  • Experience building and programming multi-rotor drones.

  • Experience flying multi-rotor drones.

  • Extensive experience with Mission Planner or Ardupilot software.

  • Ability to work in remote field locations.

  • Passionate for nature and the New Zealand environment.

  • Ability to work independently as well as be a good team player.

  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve.
